Why is adoption so expensive?
Many people have asked why International adoption is so expensive. Where does the money go?There alot of costs to go along with all the paperwork necessary to complete our adoption. China comes in one of the least expensive with fees right around $25,000.00 Guatamala and Russia are closer to $40,000.00. First you have our agency fees that total just over $7,000.00. This includes our Application fee, Home study fees, Notarizations, dossier preparation and translation. Christian World Adoption (CWA) is our agency, based out of North Carolina. China fees come in just over $8,000.00. This isn't bribe money...about half of it ($4,000.00) is our orphanage donation for them caring for our daughter for all of this time. This will help supply the children still waiting in the orphanage with toys, diapers, formula, etc. The rest of the fees are for translations, China documents and court fees. Our trip to get our daughter is going to be quite expensive as well. It will run close to $8,000.00 This is for Airfare both to and in China, hotel, transportation, food, etc. Not to mention the $830.00 for immigration fees, $450.00 for Kate's medical exam and visa and the $350.00 we spent on our Psychological evaluation and the copays for all the physicals and labwork. Yes, it is very expensive, but we really believe that this is God's plan for us. Kate is a gift from God and priceless to us!!
